Odemira

For centuries Odemira has been an economic center in the region. The village was once Roman and later Arabic - the foundation of the moorish castle still stands today. It was finally taken by Portuguese during the reconquest of the Iberian peninsula. One of the main riches of the place is the proximity to the Mira river, which beginns in the Serra do Caldeirão, passes in Odemira and flows into the Atlantic next to Vila Nova de Milfontes. The natural beauty of the place is marked by this beautiful river.

Activities:
We suggest the following activities in Odemira: stroll along the river, visit to the castle, the traditional mill, the garden of the iron fountain and to the local artisans' shop. We also suggest the tasting of handmade chocolates in Beatriz's chocolate shop.
